The series is produced at Community Television for the Southern Berkshires in South Lee, and will be shown on their public access channel 16.<br /> <br />According to Andrew Cort, the show&rsquo;s producer and host: "During the upcoming weeks, I&rsquo;ll be interviewing people with interesting ideas and impressive achievements in many fields of human endeavor, including the Arts, Science, Religion, Politics, Economics and Education. In our conversations, we&rsquo;ll be looking for thoughtfulness, creativity and passion, as well as practicality. We hope the discussions will be entertaining and fun, but also filled with real substance."<br /> <br />In the first installment of the show, airing this week, Cort interviews Louisa Gilder, the acclaimed author of </span><span style="font:13px Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; "><em>The Age of Entanglement: When Quantum Physics was Reborn</em></span><span style="font:13px Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; "> (Knopf, 2008). The book discusses the history and personalities of the giants of modern physics &ndash; Einstein, Bohr, Heisenberg, Schrodinger, John Bell, and others &ndash; and in the context of conversations among these scientists, readers get a feel for the real process of scientific discovery. On the program, Gilder describes the transition from the classical scientific point of view to the contemporary view, the paradox of waves and particles, the strange and surprising concept of "entanglement", and its astounding applications to cryptography and quantum computing.<br /> <br />Each episode of Spirit of the Berkshires will be shown weekly on CTSB&rsquo;s Channel 16 on the following days and times:  Tuesday, 6:30pm; Wednesday, 12:00am, 12:30pm, and 10:00pm; Friday, 10:00pm; Saturday, 7:00pm; Sunday, 2:00pm and 7:30pm; Monday, 10:30am and 8:30pm; and Tuesday, 4:30am.<br /> <br />The host, Dr. Andrew Cort, D.C., J.D., is a teacher, an attorney, and a doctor of chiropractic. Dr. Cort lives in Tyringham.</span>]]></content:encoded></item><item><title>CTSB wins Hometown Video Award</title><dc:creator>CTSB</dc:creator><category>None</category><dc:date>2009-07-07T13:09:55-04:00</dc:date><link>http://www.ctsbtv.org/index.html#unique-entry-id-2</link><guid isPermaLink="true">http://www.ctsbtv.org/index.html#unique-entry-id-2</guid><content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:center;"><a href="http://www.advocateweekly.com/southcounty/ci_12734761" rel="external"><img class="imageStyle" alt="Pasted Graphic" src="http://www.ctsbtv.org/files/pasted-graphic-3.jpg" width="175" height="38"/></a><br /></p><p style="text-align:left;">Community Television for the Southern Berkshires has won a first place award in the category of Best Informational Feature in the 2009 Hometown Video Awards.<br />The national competition is sponsored by the Alliance for Community Media. This year's competition drew more than 1,200 entries from community television stations nationwide. "The Shroud of Turin, Is this A Photograph of Jesus Christ?" was directed and edited by Leo W. Mahoney, station manager of CTSB-TV.<br />The lecture was given by Mahoney's father, Leo E. Mahoney of Lenox, who is a renowned speaker on the mysteries of the Shroud. The program was recorded in August 2008 at St. Charles Church in Pittsfield. It took the younger Mahoney a year to create and edit the many graphic images used in the video.<br />The award will be presented at the Alliance for Community Media National Conference in Portland, Ore., in July.
